If you have to go out of town and you have a pet, you need to think about what will happen to your pet while you are gone. You just can't leave them at home all alone while you are going to be gone. They need to be fed, watered, and cleaned up after. You can bring them to a kennel and board them, but not all pets are going to do well in a kennel situation. Another option is to use a pet sitting service. There are several reasons why you might want to go with this option. 

Safe & Familiar Environment

One reason to hire a pet sitter to take care of your pet while you are away is that you will be able to leave your pet in your home, which is a safe and familiar environment for them. If your pet has anxiety or issues like blindness or physical disabilities, that safe environment is even more important. Your pet needs to have space where they can navigate safely to get to where they need to go. That will let your pet continue to thrive while you are gone. 

One-on-One Attention

Another reason is that a pet sitter will be able to give your pet one-on-one attention. That's not something that they will be able to get much of at a kennel or in a boarding situation. There will be many pets there, and the workers will have to split their time among all those pets, meaning your pet isn't going to have as much attention as you might want. 

Scheduling

When you hire a pet sitter, you are going to be able to schedule when they check on your pet, how often they check on your pet, and how long they should spend with your pet. For example, you may want them to come in the morning to feed your pet and take care of them and then come back later in the late afternoon or evening to spend some time with your pet, just playing with them and giving them some company. 

If you have a pet and have to go out of town, you need to make sure that your pet will be taken care of the way you would like. Hiring a pet sitter can allow that. Your pet will likely be happier while you are gone if they get to stay at home.
